Pump System Optimisation

Pump System Optimisation is the process of improving pump performance, control settings, and energy efficiency across water and industrial pumping systems. This includes hydraulic modelling, pump station control review, pump selection and specification, SCADA analysis, flow meter checking, and onsite testing to improve reliability and reduce operating costs.

Our skills:

Engineered Efficiency provides a range of pump system optimisation services for water, wastewater, and industrial infrastructure, including:

  • Pump station optimisation

  • Pump control strategy review

  • Pump selection and specification

  • SCADA and PLC control assessment

  • Hydraulic modelling and system analysis

  • Pump performance testing

  • Flow meter readings and checking

  • Set-point and lag time optimisation

  • Energy efficiency improvements

Busselton Water Pump System Optimisation

Engineered Efficiency was engaged by Busselton Water to optimise the control settings of upgraded delivery pumpsets across multiple plants. The project focused on improving pump reliability, reducing hydraulic instability, and increasing energy efficiency following major pump upgrades.

Improvements implemented included:

  • Hydraulic modelling of pump operation under different control settings

  • Review of pump station PLC and SCADA controls

  • Analysis of pressure, flow, power, and speed data from SCADA

  • Checking system flow performance against operating requirements

  • Refinement of pump start/stop setpoints and lag times

  • Verification of pump performance against tested pump curves

These improvements helped deliver a more stable and efficient pumping system, while providing clear operating recommendations for long-term performance.
